joy
crudbuckets, i hate it that i can never access my blog from this computer. i can, however, post, which is a very good thing, i just don't get to read the comments. :(
i survived the first week of camp having campers... which is always a week of getting the kinks out and figuring things out again, and having things like... three airhorns in one day. an airhorn means that there are missing campers. the first one was a drill, the second because two kids didn't sign out of the buddy board, and the third because 5 kids got lost in the forest. i was running through the forest, and when the airhorn finally went to say that they were found, i was ten feet from the edge of the forest so i just walked out rather than try to find my way back to camp on the paths, and i came out in a field/barn yard three farms down the road from camp and met a lovely russian couple with a huge house and lots of gold teeth and they offered me fruit from their orchard. quite humourous.
we had quite a few salvations this week at camp, it is always great to hear about them from the counsellors. i stay in a cabin with just two other staff, the female program director and the assistant cook. my official title this year is "program administrator," which basically means i am in charge of all the paperwork associated with the programming, which includes all camper schedules, weekly schedules, staff schedules, and a bunch of other random paperwork, and i'm also head of teaching arts and crafts, and i'm also technically in charge of the Secret Service Team (the 15 and 16 year olds who work in the kitchen and do maintenance, cleaning the bathrooms, etc)... and i do a lot of other odd jobs as well. so, that's what i'm doing here. i love administration. strange, but true. and, i get to work with a lot of fabulous people and enjoy lovely southern ontario, serving God, so hey, it's an awesome job. :)
so, in other news, my good chum carolyn came and kidnapped me wednesday night at 9pm and we went to her house to watch "how to lose a guy in 10 days" and a friend of mine from chicago showed up at camp to visit me that night and then tracked me down at carolyn's. her boyfriend is from the town near camp. it was nice to see her and it made me miss all my school friends. :)
and then yesterday, carolyn came to visit camp for the afternoon and stayed for supper... except they ran out of food (accidentally) and only the kids and about half the staff got to eat, i had a few lettuce leaves... so she invited me and jordo over and we escaped at 10:30pm and jordan got some steaks from his house and BBQed them for me and carolyn at her house and it was lovely. we had a good chat which was nice, and then we all fell asleep in carolyn's living room and woke up at 2:30am. she told us we could just sleep over, but we decided to drive back then rather than get up early in the morning.
so, yeah, i'm at my friend heather's for the weekend and i'm not sure if we're doing anything tomorrow or not. doing nothing would be nice. camp is exhausting. :)
hmm... what else is new? much, but i need to get to bed i think. take care and have a lovely day. let me know what you've been up to.
:)
